NC SAFE Education Requirements

1.    Q: I am an education provider. How do I get approved with your office?

A: Education Providers interested in obtaining approval to conduct courses to meet prelicensing (PE) or continuing education requirements should submit application online here through NMLS.

2.    Q: How may I view the education courses I have already taken?

A: You can sign onto the Mortgage Loan Originator login page to view your education history. MLO may not take the same approved course in the same or successive years to meet
the annual requirements for continuing education.  MLOs
WILL NOT receive education credits for repeat courses.

3.    Q: Where can I find out about the approved continuing education providers?

A:
A list of approved education providers is available on the NMLS website found here.

4.    Q: As a licensed Mortgage Loan Originator, will I have to take continuing education classes in order to keep my license?

A:
Yes you will. Each licensed Mortgage Loan Originator must complete eight (8) hours of approved continuing education each year, except for the first year he/she is initially licensed under the initial licensing procedure.

In other words, an individual receiving an initially issued Mortgage Loan Originator license set to expire on December 31, 2010 will have to satisfy the continuing education requirements for renewal of his/her license on/before December 31, 2011.

A Mortgage Loan Originator license is valid from the date of issuance until December 31st. Before January 1st of each year, a Mortgage Loan Originator must file to renew the license for the upcoming fiscal year in NMLS.
